May 4, 2024International Seminar Sustainable Tourism 2024: Acting Local, Thinking Global : Planning and Management Perspective in Sustainable Tourism
On 21 March 2024 Management Board of Toba Caldera UNESCO Global Geopark was invited in International Seminar Sustainable Tourism .
The present global development agenda supports the idea of promoting sustainability, which includes
governance, socioeconomic, environmental, and cultural sustainability. Developing the tourism sector is a useful strategy for achieving sustainable development objectives. Since tourism has a direct economic impact on local communities, it is an important goal for growth. A green economy can be formed by adopting circular economic concepts that support eco-friendly tourism and suitable community empowerment.
As interest in sustainable tourism grows on a worldwide scale, the travel and tourism sector is now a major
topic on national research agendas. In keeping with this focus, the University of North Sumatra’s EQUITY program—a premier research and development endeavor—has tourist studies as a core component. By building on these principles, the proposal for a summer course seeks to demonstrate North Sumatra’s embrace of sustainable tourism practices while meeting the increasing need for tourism-related education globally. This international seminar is related to the EQUITY program from the Center for Excellence in Science and Technology (PUI) and supported by Collaborative Research of Top Universities (PKUU).
This international seminar activity is an important step in the development of the University of North Sumatra Sustainable Tourism PUI in collaboration with the Monitoring Center Sustainable Tourism Observatory (MCSTO) Danau Toba-USU. The seminar will greatly aid in the advancement of science and networking PUI by fostering knowledge sharing, cross-cultural cooperation, and improved understanding. Sustained tourist will broaden its global network, increase the scope of its supervision, and spur innovation in the sustainable tourist industry by participating in this seminar.
